Rear Admiral Hank Bond Joins root9B Former NORTHCOM Director of Cyberspace Operations Named Senior VP

NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Navy Rear Admiral Hank Bond, Director of Cyberspace Operations and Chief Information Officer at the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM) focusing on homeland defense, is joining root9B, a subsidiary of Premier Alliance (PIMO), as Senior Vice President effective November 3. Admiral Bond is retiring from active duty service on November 1.

“The financial sector, industrial control systems, retail markets, defense, and government networks represent ground zero in our current fight for digital supremacy. Nation-State cyber adversaries are executing strategic targeting of networks and systems critical to the security of our nation,” said root9B Chief Executive Officer Eric Hipkins. “We couldn’t be more pleased to have Admiral Bond join the root9B team. He will be a valuable asset as we answer the adversary’s sophisticated and agile ability to target and compromise critical networks with equally sophisticated and agile defensive capabilities.”

Admiral Bond’s naval career spanned more than 31 years. He has extensive operational experience building, operating and defending Navy and joint service networks both aboard ship and on land, including the U.S. Sixth Fleet and a nuclear aircraft carrier strike group. Prior to his current assignment, he was Director of Communications and Information Systems, United States Forces – Iraq.

“I have been operating and defending critical information technology networks for almost 20 years,” said Admiral Bond. “I am very excited to be part of a company that is moving beyond the passive or reactive mode of protecting our private sector IT networks. It is about actively hunting the adversary in proprietary networks with teammates that have extensive experience doing just that.”
