Maxim Group LLC, a leading full-service mid-tier investment banking, securities and wealth management firm today announced the appointment of Jeff Sklar, 46, as its new managing director, head of institutional sales and sales trading. In his new position, Sklar will run the day-to-day operations of the extensive institutional equities business of Maxim Group."Jeff's strong management experience in nearly 20 years in institutional sales and trading will be a major factor in the continued growth of our institutional coverage," noted Christopher J. Fiore, executive managing director and head of capital markets at Maxim Group LLC. "Jeff has a significant following in the industry, and we are pleased to have an individual of his caliber join us," said Fiore, who was previously head of institutional sales for Maxim Group.
Prior to joining Maxim Group, Sklar was a senior vice president of institutional sales at Oppenheimer & Co. since 2004. From 2002 to 2004, he was a partner and managing director in institutional sales at C.E. Unterberg Towbin, and from 1995 to 2002, Sklar was a partner, managing director and head of New York Institutional Sales at Gruntal & Co. He started his career in institutional equity sales at Lehman Brothers in 1989.
Sklar received an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1989 and serves on that school's reunion class gift committee. He was awarded a bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1983. He resides in New York City
