Maxim Group LLC Announces Promotion and Appointment of Senior Legal Staff
Maxim Group LLC, a leading full-service mid-tier investment banking, securities and wealth management firm today announced the promotion of James Siegel, 40, to Co-General Counsel of the Firm and the appointment of Christopher Massey, 32, as Assistant General Counsel of Maxim Group LLC.
"Jim Siegel's extensive knowledge and expertise in the securities industry and his dedication to our firm as exemplified by his strong work ethic has earned him this well-deserved promotion," said Edward Rose, Maxim Group General Counsel, who, as of September 1, will be Co- General Counsel with Siegel. "Maxim Group is also fortunate to have attracted Chris Massey who brings considerable legal talent to our firm," added Rose.
Mr. Siegel has served as Maxim Group's assistant general counsel since February 2003 and from 2000 until that time was general counsel of Joseph Stevens & Co. in New York. Between 1998 and 2000 Mr. Siegel was with the New York law firm of Winget, Spadafora & Schwartzberg and represented broker dealers in a variety of arbitrations, customer disputes and regulatory matters. From 1994 to 1998 he worked at D'Amato & Lynch in New York principally representing insurance companies in their coverage disputes with their insureds in securities class action law suits. Mr. Siegel graduated from Fordham Law School in 1993 and is admitted to the bar in the State of New York. He is also a 1990 graduate of Hamilton College, cum laude. Mr. Siegel resides in Manhattan with his wife and young child.
Prior to joining Maxim Group, Christopher Massey spent four years as an Associate in the Securities Litigation Department at Bressler Amery & Ross, P.C. in New York. At Bressler, he represented broker-dealers and registered representatives in customer and industry disputes involving various sales practice issues in state and federal court and before the National Association of Securities Dealers and the New York Stock Exchange (now known as the Financial Industry Regulatory Association). Mr. Massey received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 2004 and is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia. He received a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1998. Before attending law school, Mr. Massey worked in commercial real estate. He resides in Garden City, New York, with his wife.
